FAQ #1 - For versions 1 & 2 of bannerbomb:

Q1: Why doesn't it work on my Wii?
A: Please note that Bannerbomb does not work for everyone at this time.

Q2: Why does my Wii freeze up?
A1: If you are using version 1, make sure you're not trying to use the SD Menu on System Menu 4.0 (the little blue SD card button in the lower left).
A2: If you are using version 1, check that you pressed the Channels button in Data Management.
A3: (for version 1 and 2) Try a different version of Bannerbomb. Most people should be able to use the first file, but some might need another file.

Q3: Does bannerbomb work on all versions of the Wii, not just 4.0?
A: Yes it should work on all versions up to 4.2.

Q4: Does bannerbomb work on all regions?
A: On some regions it might not work. I am trying to figure out why this is so. But i'm sure it works on NTSC.

Q5: I only get the private folder when downloading it, not the boot.elf?
A: You get the boot.elf file separately. Link: http://www.bootmii.org/download/

Q6: When running the HackMii installer, I get the scam warning, but then it freezes/exits. What do it do?
A: This is a known problem with the HackMii installer; I'm not sure if it has anything to do with bannerbomb. Stay tuned.

Q7: Why do I get something about Starcube's first application?
A: Try runnin a dol other than the one you got from Starcube.

Q8: My Wii's serial number starts with LU64, is this compatible?
A: Yes.

Q9: What is a "Wii executable"?
A: It is a file that ends with either ".dol" or ".elf" (no quotes).

Q10: What is the root of the SD Card?
A: It is the first screen/window you see when you open the SD card with your computer.

Q11: Where can I find V1/V2 of bannerbomb?
A: Go here: http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/index.php and click on the version for your Wii.

Q12: If my Wii is 4.2 or below and I want to update, will I lose my homebrew?
A: CURRENTLY (as of 7/27/10) if you install the latest version of hackmii installer, you can update without losing your homebrew. You can also just update through the Homebrew Channel itself (a popup will appear if you are connected to the internet).

Q13: Privateold?! What?!
A: Okay listen, You only need the private folder which was included in the download. "privateold" is what you rename your previous "private" folder IF YOU HAD ONE. You rename it because you can't have two folders named the same thing in a directory, windows will ask you to merge them. After you hack your Wii, you can delete the downloaded private folder and rename the "privateold" folder to "private" again.

OLD Q1: What exploits work with 4.3?
A: Smash Stack works with the NTSC-U version of SS:BB. Indiana Pwns works with all Wii's and you need Lego Indiana Jones. Bannerbomb v1/v2 DO NOT WORK ON 4.3!

OLD Q2: Is there a video tutorial for this?
