Please read before you continue:

I hope to have the first portion of the series take place in two different Military Bases with two different groups that will eventually end up stationed together after they have graduated.
So it will go back and forth from time to time.
Since this is intended to be read more in the manner of a comic book or manga, I will use the "*" symbol to represent the changing points rather then stating that "it is now in a different location".
I feel that this will make it faster, easier to understand, and will definitely go better with the more humorous aspects of the series.
I hope you enjoy. ^_^

Chapter 1, The New Recruits:

It was a cool morning on the first day of the second month of the year 523 AP.
A boy ran through the noisy Train Station selling papers, a couple was on the Landing preparing for a long goodbye, a baby was crying while his mother patiently ordered his meal.
All the while, Major Reynell was soaking in all of these activities.
On the other hand, Lieutenant Collins was not in the slightest bit content with her surroundings.
For the past 20 minutes, she had been in a constant state of pacing the floor, only to stop every ten or so steps to check her watch.
"Damn that Train! Why is it so late?! We've been waiting for the past 2 hours!" She stated with an aggressive tone.
"Take it easy, we've only been here for twenty minutes. So its late, just enjoy the time away from the base while it lasts." Major Reynell answered in a somewhat relaxed tone.
Major Reynell was a beautiful women in her late twenties, she had brown hair that was cut just above her shoulders.
Though a drill instructor, her personality is actually quite easy going, and so is very popular around her trainees.
As for Instructor Collins, she is a young women in her mid twenty's with black braided hair and of a firm build.
She is strict and has a very short fuse.
For this harsh combination, the recruits have affectionately given her the nickname "Time Bomb".
"Your too easy going! I can't understand how the recruit's will ever graduate when their own superior. . ." Instructor Collins was interrupted by the noise of the intercom announcing the arrival of the next Train.
"That's it." Said Major Reynell as she got up from the Station bench.
"Go wait on the Platform, I have to use the Can." Reynell left Collins before she had an opportunity to reply.

*Elsewhere*

"WhoooWheee!!" The noise traveled through the small Bus waking several of the sleeping passengers.
"Would you look at the size of those things?!!" This rude noise was generated by a loud dark red haired boy of approximately 16 years of age, the following month.
The boy was apparently peering out of the side window when the sight of a girl disrupted his state of boredom.
This was shortly followed by several of his fellow passengers moving to the same side of the Bus to observe what all of the commotion was about.
While his mind was elsewhere, the Bus had entered a small town to let in several new passengers.
However, these were not your normal run-of-the-mill passengers.
They were all young candidates of around the same age heading to their place of training.
After several "Ooh"'s and "Ahh"'s, their concentration was once again disrupted.
"Hey you kids! Get back in your seats!!" Shouted the Bus driver.
"Ahh, we was only looking!" Said one of the boys while returning to his seat.
The Bus pulled to the side of the curb and opened its door.
Outside, a small line had already been formed.
Three new passengers entered the Bus.
One of which was a light blond haired boy of the age 14.
His hair was so light, that you might have thought it was white, without taking a second look.
He wore a pair of round glasses that gave him a somewhat "Geeky" exterior.
Under his right arm, he carried a small bag filled with several books and an overnight stash.
He found a vacant seat that was right next to previously mentioned loud mouth.
Whom by now, had quietly reentered his state of boredom.
After several minutes had gone by, the newcomer decided to break the ice by introducing himself.
"Um, my names Archie Mathers, nice to meet you!" He waited several seconds to receive a slight "Grunt" in response.
"So. . . where are you from?" This time, he received no response.
"I'm from the town of Sufiya, that's on the Eastern Plate." He received no response.
". . . Oh! Would you like to read a magazine? I've brought several with me!" Archie shifted through several books in his bag, not noticing that this had finally gained the other boys attention.
"Do you have any Playmates?" The other boy asked.
"Uh. . . no. . . is that a game magazine?" Archie asked with a look of pure ignorance.
"Never mind. . ." The boy replied.
"Oh, well I have some mystery and adventure manga's if you change your mind." Said Archie.
The other boy continued to space out while gazing through the window.
By now, Archie felt that his efforts to communicate were wasted, when.
"The names Ren, Ren Kato, and if you have some ecchi manga's in that bag, I might be interested." He finally gave a straightforward answer!
At this, Archie grinned with a deep red blush.
"Well, I don't have any of those. . . But I do have this shōnen manga about a hot school teacher with multiple personality's!" Archie eagerly replied with a smile on his face.
"That'll do!" Ren answered while grabbing the manga.
"Well, I'm from the town of De Palma, that's on the Western Plate." Ren answered while turning a page.
"Really?! De Palma?! I hear that place is an aquatic paradise!" Archie exclaimed.
"Yeah, I guess you could say its a quaint little cesspool out in the boonies." Answered Ren.
"Why would you want to leave a place like that?" Asked Archie.
"Well you see, I was walking along minding my own business, when all of a sudden. . ." Ren stopped to take a quick sip from his canteen.
"Gulp, gasp. . . There she was. . ." Ren paused for a second, as though he were recollecting the story he was about to tell.
"There who was?" Asked Archie with a developing interest.
"The Most Beautiful Girl I've Ever Seen!!" Ren's loud response woke several of the sleeping passengers.
This annoyed one in particular passenger that was sitting in the back.
"Shut the hell up!" Exclaimed the boy in the back.
"Sorry about that, we'll try to keep it down." Said Archie.
"Why? He's the one that interrupted my story." Ren made a rough glance to the back of the Bus.
"Humm, the Cold Fish!" Ren exclaimed.
"What did you call me?" The boy in the back slowly stood up and approached.
Now that he was fully visible, he appeared as a dark green haired boy of around the age of 16.
"I'm gonna break your arm!" The older boy grabbed Archie by the caller.
"Hey! Wait a minute! I'm not the guy that said it!!" Archie exclaimed as beads of sweat began to flow down the sides of his neck.
"Doesn't matter, your annoying too, I'll break his arm when I'm finished with you." Said the boy.
"Way to go Archie! I'll be cheering for ya!!" Said Ren with a big grin on his face.
By now, the Bus driver was well aware of the current happenings, and politely informed the passengers.
"Get The Hell Back In Your Damn Seats!!"
The other boy gave a menacing glance toward Ren, whom sarcastically replied.
"Ooh! Scary!" Everyone returned to their seats.
"Ah! That's right! As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted. . .
There she was, the most beautiful girl in the world, pointing her finger at me, At Me!" Ren over dramatized the later portion of his statement.
"Which finger was she pointing at you?" Questioned one of the other passengers.
"Ah, your just jealous, since you can't find one!" Ren redirected the comment back at him.
"Anyway, she pointed her finger at me and said "I want you to join Lambda Phoenix", and so I did." The Bus fell silent at this point.
"But here's the best part! The recruiter guaranteed that I'd get a girl if I joined!" Ren stated with a feeling of self importance.
"It was an enlistment poster?!" Asked Archie.
"Oh gees, she really gave you the finger." Said one of the boys in the Bus with a slight smirk.
"Listen up! We'll be arriving at the base in less then 5 minutes." Said the Bus driver.

*The Train Station*

The steam from the engine's hydraulic cylinders rolled over the platform as the Maglev Train slowly pulled into the Station.
Instructor Collins stood on the landing eagerly awaiting the new recruits.
After all, it was all Their fault that the Train was 4 minutes behind schedule, and she had every intention of getting that message across to them.
Major Reynell calmly approached from behind holding a notepad with information on the new recruits.
"Well, we have nine new recruits to pick up today." Stated Major Reynell.
"It would seem so. . . This looks like one of them now." Lieutenant Collins pointed out a young girl that was just stepping off the passenger car.
"Two may be arriving late." Said Major Reynell while reading the information.
"What?!" Exclaimed Collins.
"Here are a couple more of our girls now." Said Reynell, deliberately ignoring Collins.
They begun to interrogate the new trainees, when another girl of the age 14, with dark silver hair in the twin tail style stepped of the Train.
She was carrying on a conversation with the conductor.
"Try to take better care of that watch, I wont be around next time to fix it." The girl said to the conductor.
"I sure will, this watch hasn't run in over 5 years!" The conductor said with a gleeful expression.
The girl was wearing a green T-shirt with a gray dungaree jacket and had on a pair of brown shorts and working boots.
She held a canvas shoulder bag in her right hand and a large duffel bag over her left shoulder.
After several moments had past she noticed the line of girls forming and rushed to the spot.
"My name is Lieutenant Collins, from now on, you will follow and obey every order that you are given.
Disobedience will not. . ." But before she could finish, she was interrupted by Major Reynell.
"Collins, not all of the girls have arrived yet, aren't you being a little hasty?"
"They need to. . ." But this time Collins was interrupted by a loud thud.
After turning to see what had caused the noise, Collins saw that two porters attempting to carry a large trunk off of the baggage car, had accidentally slipped and dropped the heavy container on the platform.
It didn't take her long to realize that there were two, no, four more porters carrying several other containers and placing them in the same pile.
A 15 year old girl with long silvery blue hair rushed to scene upon hearing the sound of her luggage hitting the platform.
She had on an expensive looking yellow dress with matching handbag, high heel shoes, and panama hat.
Instructor Collins knew instantly that this girl had come from a high status family, and had little to no idea of what the world was like outside her place of dwelling.
"Oh my! I hope nothing was damaged!" The girl frantically checked around the outside of the large trunk.
"Well, I suppose it will have to wait until I've arrived at my accommodations." The girl stated in an expression of great displeasure.
Lieutenant Collins approached the girl.
"Excuse me, but are you here to join Lambda Phoenix?" Collins asked while feigning politeness.
"Why yes! My name is Alina Adler." She replied.
"Well then you need to go stand in that line over there" Collins pointed to the line of girls that was slowly forming.
"Why thank you very much! My father, Governor Adler, wanted me to give this to my commanding officer upon arrival." Alina pulled a letter out of her matching handbag.
"I'll take that." Collins took the letter and tucked it under her arm.
"What exactly is in all of this?" Collins asked in reference to the luggage.
"Lets see. . . That contains my jewelry, and that is my hair dryer, and that over there contains my croquet set. . ." Said Alina in a very proper tone.
"Oh, by all means, we mustn't forget about that." Instructor Collins answered in a sarcastically polite tone.
"Do you play croquet?" Asked Alina with a hint excitement.
"Well, I have kicked a few tyro's around before, so I'm sure I could give it a try." Said Instructor Collins with the same sarcastically polite tone as earlier.
"We really should play a game sometime." Exclaimed Alina.
"Yes, I know quite a few games, but I doubt you'd like them. . .
By the way, did you happen to bring a change of clothes, toothbrush, anything of the sort?" Asked Instructor Collins.
"Why yes. . . There they are." Alina pointed toward a traveling suitcase mixed in the rather large pile of luggage.
"Why don't you take that one with you, and I'll take care of the rest?" Lieutenant Collins suggested with an artificial smile.
"How very kind of you!" Answered Alina while taking the suitcase.
Lieutenant Collins waited for the girl to reach the group of trainees, before handing several bills of cash to the head porter.
"Keep what you like, and donate the rest to charity". Collins returned to the group, only to find that Major Reynell had already dealt with all the girls.
"What's that?" Major Reynell asked while pointing to the letter under Lieutenant Collins arm.
"This is most likely a request from the Governor to have his daughter to be promoted to officer." At which Instructor Collins tore the letter into several pieces, without opening it.
"I hate officials". Stated Lieutenant Collins.
Just to inform you, though Lambda Phoenix is a military, they are still mercenary's.
Because of this, they are not subjects of any State, District or Government.
Not one of the mercenary groups has a base on Government claimed land, so they are all independently run.
This is understood and respected by all Nations, though not by all leaders.
So, the Governors daughter has as much right to join as anyone else.
This also means that once she has signed her enlistment, she must remain with the group until discharge, regardless of her family's views on the matter.
To join a mercenary force requires an adults decision, and cannot by any means be nullified, even by a Governor.
So to put it bluntly, the Governor was breaking a rule in requesting for his daughter's promotion.
Major Reynell returned to reviewing her notepad.
"We still have one more. . . She should be arriving anytime now. . . Oh! here they are." Exclaimed Major Reynell.
"They?" Questioned Lieutenant Collins.
Several moments latter, two security guards arrived with a girl bound by handcuffs.
She had long black hair and wore a dark red T-shirt with a picture of a black skull on the front, over that she wore a black jacket with the words "BLACK DEATH!!" ruggedly written in white on the back.
Her lower torso consisted of a black kilt skirt with several seemingly meaningless metal chains that dangled down from the sides of a black leather belt, and her leggings were knee high black leather boots.
As the security guards escorted her to the small group, both Major Reynell and Lieutenant Collins noticed that she showed a strong aura of rebellion and sarcasm.
Major Reynell and Lieutenant Collins approached the girl and ordered the guards to remove the handcuffs.
"Your name and age?" Demanded Instructor Collins.
"Hitomi Koizumi, 28 years old". The girl replied with a mischievous grin.
"Her name is Nao Itazura, and she's 16 years old." Stated Major Reynell while examining her notepad.
"Well, lets get going, shall we?" Major Reynell directed the trainees to the Bus.
