Social media, when used approprietly, cna be used in the classroom in a variety of ways. Teachers can create "PLNs" or "Professional Learning Networks" to engage with students and parents, and learn from other educators. Social media can be used to keep students apprised of subject-specific news and current events. Teachers can create polls, remind students of homework, and answer questions outside of class. Social media also encourages students to interact with and learn from each other. Using social media in the classroom can also encourage students to reflect upon their own digital identities, and how the content they post shapes the way in which others perceive their character.
